|Scope & Content||The collection contains four volumes of records from the club that document the day-to-day activities of the club. They include the meeting minutes 1930-1956 over two books, lists of members, and a scrapbook from 1931-1954 that gets into more detail on their day to day activities through their programs and newspaper clippings.|
The Moorhead Garden Club was established in 1930 to “stimulate the knowledge and love of gardening among amateurs; to aid in the protection of native trees, plants and birds and to encourage civic planting and improvement, especially of the approaches to the city and of the unoccupied areas. To accomplish their goals they would put on monthly programs on various facets of nature. Their larger events included yearly flower shows and putting Christmas Lights on their cabin clubhouse.
One of the more interesting things about the club was how they moved the cabin that served as the original stage coach station in Moorhead to serve as their clubhouse. Newspaper stories on the moving of the cabin and a bit of the history of the structure can be found in the club's scrapbook that is part of the collection.
