Scope & Content The collection contains all varieties correspondence with the Clay County Draft Board.
Admin/Biographical History As the name implies the Clay County Draft Board was the local conduit for the national draft board. It was also the point of contact for local men who may have questions about the process or may decide that they need to put in an application for furlough or deferral. Most deferrals in Clay County were for agricultural reasons. Much of the correspondence is also with the Adjutant General's Office in St. Paul which serves as the chief administer for soldiers.
