Scope & Content This collection contains photocopies of historical materials taken from the Minnesota National Guard in 1989. The more notable inclusions are a photocopy of the Minnesota National Guard Scrapbook for the battle group, and copy negatives of a collection of photographs that are owned by the 2nd Battle Group.
Admin/Biographical History The 2nd Battle Group of the 136th Infantry of the Minnesota National Guard is based out of Moorhead Minnesota. Originally organized at the 2nd Regiment, Minnesota Volunteer Infantry at Fort Snelling in Minnesota. The 2nd was heavily involved in the Civil War seeing time in Shiloh, Chickamauga, Chattanooga, Atlanta, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, and North Carolina. During World War 2 the 2nd saw time in New Guinea, and the Battle of Luzon in the Philipines.
