Scope & Content This collection contains photos from family travels and gathering in the Georgetown area. There are professional portraits, candid photos, photos of buildings and landscapes. The photos range from the 1890’s to the 1940’s. Also in the collection are three albums that contain photos of the family from the 1890’s to the 1900’s.
Admin/Biographical History Adam and Wilhemina Stein along with their nine children (four boys and five girls) were one of the founding families of Clay County.Coming to Clay County as German immigrants they settled near Georgetown. Eventually, the family ran a 840 acre farm as well as owning and operating businesses in and around Georgetown. Annie Stein,born to the family in 1872,went on to be a well known area artist and collector of area history. The Stein family was a well known part of the Georgetown community.
