Scope & Content The collection contains a Wells family history written by Thornley Wells and donated to the Clay County Historical Society in 1991. It also includes some research done by his grandson on the Wells Family Coat of Arms which Thornley Wells grandson had designed and received official approval through the college of arms in the United Kingdom.
Admin/Biographical History Thornley F. Wells is a former mayor of Moorhead serving in that capacity from 1954-1957 and as a Moorhead City Alderman from 1959-1972. In 1933 He started Wells Dray and Parcel delivering packages during the depression on his motorcycle. Wells Dray and Parcel would later evolve into a moving company that was centered in Moorhead which Thornley Wells helped . During WW2 he served in For Collins Colorado in one of the prisoner of war camps. Thornley Wells died in 1995 in Navare Florida at the age of 94.
