Scope & Content The collection contains the records of the society including its correspondence, articles of incorporation, meeting minutes and membership lists.
Admin/Biographical History From the articles of incorporation from 1960: “The purpose of this organization shall be to promote, foster and encourage the advancement of the science and art of medicine, promote medical education and the betterment of public health, and with other County Medical Societies of the State of Minnesota as a component of the Minnesota State Medical Association, make effective the profession in all scientific, public policy and health material and social affairs, and to maintain the ethics of the medical profession to the end that it may enjoy the respect and support of its members and the public.”

Society meetings were a good opportunity for local physicians to discuss whatever issues were facing their profession at their time. The medical society would also offer endorsements or condemnations on these issues that they would deliver to the state medical society to lobby for on their behalf. Every meeting would also have a program on some aspect of medical practicum, urology, oncology, etc...

System of arrangement Records from 1973-1977 are in a binder in Box 2. Since the records did not show any damage they were left as is to better reflect the organization of the society.
Access Conditions There are no access restrictions on the materials, and the collection is open to all members of the public in accordance with state law.

Box 1 Folder 6 all membership applications dated past 1945 will be restricted to protect the privacy of the people who filled them out.
