Admin/Biographical History Holy Cross Township was organized by the Clay County Commission on February 4, 1887 in response to a petition filed by a majority of the voters in Township 137, Ranges 48 and 49. Previously this township had been administered, along with Townships 138 and 139, as part of Moorhead Township. The first township election and meeting was held January 22, 1887. The Township name derives from the Catholic Mission and Post Office of the same name previously located nearby in Township 138 (Kurtz). The city of Comstock, Minnesota is located in Holy Cross Township.
